- Vegetable oil for deep frying
- 5 small-diced potatoes
- 2 small-diced carrots
- 180 gr of tofu
- 3 bay leaves
GROUND SPICES
- 1 large shallot
- 7 garlic cloves
- 5 sweet peppers or substitute 2 tbsp paprika powder
- 3 candlenuts
- A half cup of water
First, heat some oil in a skillet to deep fry your potatoes, carrots, and tofu. It should take around 8 to 10 minutes to fry them until they are a good shade of brown. You may also bake them in the oven to reduce the amount of oil.
It's time to work on the spice paste while your vegetables and tofu cook. Combine all ingredients in a stone craft or use a mixer or blender for optimal results.
After that, pour some oil into your pan or wok and cook it there. Add the bay leaves and ground spices, and sauté for about 5 minutes when everything is aromatic.
Add your tofu and fried veggies at this point. Combine everything with some kecap manis, salt, and sugar. After 10 minutes of continuous stirring over low heat, switch off the burner and taste-test the seasoning.
Last, put your sambal goreng in a shallow dish or platter and serve it immediately. It's a quick and delicious recipe that goes well with any dinner. Enjoy!
