Extra tips and tricks to make your experience more flavorful!

●  Toss in some shrimp or tofu

Throw in some cooked shrimp for an extra protein boost. If you want a plant-based option, tofu works equally well. Simply pan-fry them until golden, then add them to the noodle mixture.

●  Add as many veggies as you want

Feel free to add any more vegetables that you enjoy. you can add bok choy, bell peppers, or corn to your ‘Mee Goreng’ to add richness and colour to your noodles.

●  For an authentic experience, use a wok

Use your wok if you have one! The high edges of a wok enable greater tossing and guarantee that the sought-after smokey wok hei taste is added to the noodles. It provides an authentic touch to the meal.

●  Garnish with fried shallots

Top your Mie Goreng with fried shallots for an additional crunchy, flavorful touch. They’re commonly available in Asian grocery shops, or you may create your own by frying thinly sliced shallots until golden brown.

Side dishes for a luxurious dining experience!

Indonesian Mie Goreng is a tasty and filling dish, and there are a number of complementing dishes that may transform your dinner into a feast. The following meals complement Indonesian Mie Goreng:

●  Pickled vegetables (Achar)

Achar, a sour and spicy pickled vegetable dish, cuts through the richness of Mie Goreng. Achar’s crisp texture and strong taste can help balance out the meal.

●  Salad

A simple cucumber salad dressed with rice vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce provides a cold and crisp contrast to the heat and richness of the Mie Goreng.

●  Fried rice

A simple serving of egg fried rice may be an excellent addition. It adds carbs to the dish and absorbs the tasty sauce of Mie Goreng.

●  Salad with fresh fruits

A light and refreshing fruit salad may be a cool and delicious way to finish your dinner. Fruits contain natural sugars that might counteract the savoury and spicy flavours of Mie Goreng.

Plus, it’s a healthy choice that will satisfy your taste buds without adding extra calories.

How do I store Indonesian Mie Goreng?

After you’ve enjoyed your Indonesian Mie Goreng, refrigerate any leftovers in airtight containers.

Keep proteins separate and avoid storing all of it in one container. Freeze in meal-sized amounts.

  • Yellow noodles, or any noodles.
  • 2 tbsp  soy sauce.
  • 2 tbsp sweet sauce, or teriyaki sauce.
  • 3 red chilies.
  • 5 cloves of garlic.
  • 1 cup of mushroom.
  • Lime wedges for a garnish.
  • Scallion for a garnish
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Start by cooking the yellow noodles until they're just right—that beautiful al dente texture. Drain and set them aside when they're done. We'll come back to these soon.
  • Now it's time to give our noodles some flavour. Toss 2 tablespoons of soy sauce in a heated pan. That's the groundwork for that satisfying umami taste. Don't forget to include 2 teaspoons of sweet or teriyaki sauce. Allow that to come to a simmer and cook for a few minutes. It's like there's a flavor party going on right in your pan.
  • Chop 3 red chilies and 5 garlic cloves. It's time to add some heat and that fragrant kick. Toss them in the pan and watch the magic unfold. Sauté until your kitchen is filled with those mouthwatering aromas.
  • Let us now bring some earthy, creamy goodness. Add a cup of mushrooms. Any type will suffice—pick whichever one's your favourite! Allow them to simmer until soft and immersed in all the flavorful goodness.
  • Remember those boiled noodles that we saved? It is now their turn to shine. Toss them in the pan and let them join the deliciousness. Twist and swirl until every strand are coated with the delicious sauce and infused with the diversity of flavors.
  • Finally, place your Indonesian Mie Goreng on a platter and decorate with lime wedges. The zesty zing will elevate this meal to new heights. Squeeze some lime, fill your plate, and dig in.
